Green Submariner
Two discontinued green Submariners carry their own names. The Hulk is the 116610LV — green dial and green ceramic bezel, made from 2010 to 2020. The Kermit is the 16610LV, a black dial with a green aluminium bezel, made for the Submariner’s 50th anniversary in 2003. Both are out of production, so both only exist pre-owned. The Hulk in particular climbed sharply once Rolex replaced it with the Starbucks in 2020.

Three Submariners wear green, and they are routinely confused. The Kermit, reference 16610LV, came in 2003 for the model’s fiftieth anniversary with a green aluminium bezel and a black dial. The Hulk, 116610LV, followed in 2010 with a green Cerachrom bezel and, unusually, a green dial. The current Starbucks, 126610LV, returns to a black dial in the 41mm case.

Fifty years of Submariner, in green
Green has been the Submariner’s anniversary colour since 2003, when the 16610LV marked fifty years of the model with a green bezel against a black dial. Collectors called it the Kermit. Its bezel is aluminium, so surviving examples fade and mark in the way ceramic does not, and originality of the insert is a significant part of the value.
The Hulk
The 116610LV replaced it in 2010 with a green ceramic bezel and a matching green sunburst dial — the only Submariner Rolex has made with a green dial. It ran until the 2020 line update and remains the one most people mean when they say green Submariner. At 40mm with the thicker maxi case and broad lugs, it wears substantially larger than its predecessor.
What to check
On the Kermit, establish whether the bezel insert is original and look for even, age-consistent fade. On the Hulk, check the dial for any blotching and the ceramic for edge chips. On all three, confirm the bezel indexes cleanly and the clasp extension works through its range.
