The Batman is the Rolex GMT-Master II with a blue and black Cerachrom bezel. Rolex introduced the two-colour ceramic bezel in 2013 on the 116710BLNR, then carried it onto the current case as the 126710BLNR in 2019, where it arrived on the Jubilee bracelet and briefly picked up the name Batgirl. Most people call both the Batman. The bezel was a real technical achievement rather than a styling choice. Firing two colours into a single ceramic insert took Rolex years to solve, which is why the blue-and-black arrived long after the plain black. We stock both generations. The earlier 116710BLNR on the Oyster bracelet is the quieter watch and usually the better value.

Two generations carry it: the 116710BLNR, made from 2013 on the Oyster bracelet, and the 126710BLNR that replaced it in 2019 and arrived on the Jubilee — the version people started calling the Batgirl. Most owners use Batman for both.

Why the two-colour bezel mattered
Ceramic solved the GMT-Master II’s oldest weakness. Aluminium bezel inserts faded and scratched, which is precisely why vintage examples are prized for their patina and why owners of newer watches did not want it. Rolex moved to Cerachrom in 2005, but only in single colours — firing two colours into one ceramic insert without the join failing took years to solve. The blue and black arrived in 2013, and the red and blue Pepsi followed in steel in 2018.
Choosing between the generations
The 116710BLNR is 40mm on the Oyster bracelet, with the older calibre 3186. The 126710BLNR uses the calibre 3285, with a longer power reserve, and came first on the Jubilee before the Oyster followed. The bracelet changes the watch more than the numbers suggest: the Jubilee dresses it down and wears softer, the Oyster keeps it a tool watch. Neither is the correct answer — it is worth trying both on before you commit.
What to check
Confirm the bezel insert has no chips at the edges, that the 24-hour hand sets independently through the crown, and that the bracelet has not stretched at the end links. Ask for the box and papers position up front; a full set is materially easier to resell later. Everything we list is authenticated before it goes on the site.
